GUIDE FOR AUTHORS

Components and Order of Manuscript

All the components of the manuscript should be in Time New Roman font 12 (Except the title) and double-spaced. It must be presented as follows:

 

Title: Times New Roman, 14 points size, bold and not more than 21 words. Surname and initials of each author with affiliation and telephone numbers and e-mail address of the corresponding author should be included.

 

Abstract: It is a concise summary of the whole paper that should not be more than 250 words, should be understandable without reference to the rest of the paper. Abstract consist of brief aims, methodology, results and conclusion. First person tense construction should not be used in the abstract, and references should be avoided. Author(s) should include 3 to 5 keywords separated by a semi column.

 

Main body: The text should be divided into sections, each with a separate heading as follows;

INTRODUCTION: A concise introduction of the background to the subject is required, furthermore it should include its brief statement of the problem, significance and relationship to earlier works with references. Subtitles/headings under introduction should be in lower case except the first letter of a keyword/noun.

 

MATERIALS AND METHODS: This section should be presented with clarity and detail. The techniques and methodology adopted should be supported with standard references. Researches involving the use of experimental animals or human subjects must include a statement to prove that the investigation was approved by the Ethic Committee of their respective institution or institute. Subtitles/headings under this section should be in lower case except the first letter of a keyword/noun.

 

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION: Results may be split into subheadings. Statistically analyzed data obtained from the study should be arranged in a unified and coherent sequence. Data already presented in a Table should not be re-presented graphically. Lengthy, confusing and irrelevant discussion should be avoided. Salient point/findings from the study should be discussed and supported by relevant previous and latest references. Subtitles/headings under this section should be in lower case except the first letter of a keyword/noun.

 

CONCLUSION: This is a concise deduction drawn from the findings. Author(s) should avoid citing similar work done; rather a conclusive inference with respect to the subject of research should be presented. 

 

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: Author(s) may wish to acknowledge those who contributed immensely to the article but do not fulfill the requirement for authorship. Author(s) should however acknowledge the sponsor or the funding agency of the research.

 

REFERENCES: References and citations must be in proper format. References should be cited in the text by surname of the author(s) and the year e,g Adeniyi (1986), Dashora and Pandey (2007). In case of more than two authors, surname of the first author followed by et al. and the year should be cited in the text e.g Saranya et al. (2011) or (Saranya et al., 2011). If two or more papers were published by the same author in one year, add a, b or c to differentiate each. At the end of the paper is the list of references section, references should be full and complete, well punctuated and arranged alphabetically (If they have the same author, they should be in chronological order) by first author’s surname as follows;

Author(Surename first, followed by initials) (year). Paper title. Proceedings of the (Name of the conference).Volume: Page number.

 

Citation of online Journals

Author (Surename first, followed by initials). (year, month, day). Title, Available: http://www.(URL

Author(Surename first, followed by initials). (year, month, day). Title (edition). Volume(issue) Available: http://www.(URL

 

Tables and Figures

Tables and Figures should be labelled serially using Arabic numeral (eg., Table 1, Table 2, Table 3 etc., Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3, etc.)

 

Abbreviations

Avoid the use of abbreviations at the beginning of a title, heading or sentence. The following abbreviations with numerals can be used without spelling out at first use: h, min, s, yr, mo, cm, mm, kg, g.

 

Standard International (SI) Units

Standard International (SI) Unit should be used throughout the text. For example; kg, g, mg. Use mgL-1 instead of mg/L. 

 

Numbers

Avoid the use of figures/ numbers at the beginning of a sentence. Write out one through nine unless a measurement, a designator, or a range (e.g., five seeds, 8 cm, 3 yr, 5 – 11 flowers).

 

Ethical Matter

Authors using experimental animals or human subjects in their research must seek approval from the appropriate Ethical Committee.

Manuscript Submission and Article Processing Fees

Submission of manuscript shall be done online through the Journal email address and/or website.

  1. Authors are to pay two thousand naira (N2000) as processing fee and upon acceptance, Thirteen thousand naira (N13,000) will be paid as publication fee, making a total of fifteen thousand naira (N15,000) only (subject to review).
  2. Authors are entitled to a copy of SJACR upon payment of all fees. Extra copies can be purchased at the rate of N2,000 per journal (subject to review).
