Guide for authors

Al- Anbar Journal of Veterinary Sciences is an open-access journal that published Semiannual by the College of Veterinary Medicine / University of Fallujah. The journal publishing original research article, review, short communications and case report, in various fields of Veterinary Medicine and related papers written in English.

Peer-review

All manuscripts are reviewed by the editor and members of the Editorial Board and at least two qualified reviewers or more.

Original articles should be as concise as possible; however, it should not exceed approximately 6000 words or about 6-12 pages of the journal including illustrations and tables.

The manuscript should be presented in the following order.

Title Page: The title page should include:

•    Type of article e.g., research article, review, short communications or case report.

•    Title of the manuscript: The title of the manuscript should be brief, specific, informative and describe the contents of the paper (capitalize the first letter).

•    The full name(s) of the author(s) in the order of appearance in the manuscript.

•    The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s).

•    The e-mail address, and phone number of the corresponding author.

Abstract: The Abstract should be informative and completely self-explanatory, briefly present the topic, state the scope of the experiments, hypothesis or rationale for the work and the main findings and summary conclusions, It should not exceed 300 words. Standard nomenclature should be used and abbreviations should be avoided. No literature should be cited.

Keywords: Keywords (3-5) should be provided and listed in alphabetical order.

Introduction: This should be brief and the review of the literature provides a clear statement of the problem, the relevant literature on the subject, and the proposed approach or solution.

Materials and Methods: This section should provide enough detail to allow full replication of the study by suitably skilled investigators. Protocols for new methods should include identification of methods, apparatus and procedures, and mention the statistical analysis when appropriate.

Results and Discussion: Present in logical sequence preferably with tables and illustrations emphasizing in the text only important observation. Emphasize new aspects of the study and implications and relate to other relevant studies.

Conclusion: The main conclusions of the experimental work should be presented.

Acknowledgement: The aspect which highlights disclaimers and acknowledgements of various contributions Authors must describe the financial disclosure statements and the contributions. 

Conflict of interest: Authors are required to disclose any competing interests related to their work. When submitting manuscripts, authors must include a ‘competing interests’ section at the end of the document, listing both financial and non-financial competing interests. If no competing interests exist, the statement should indicate that the authors have none.

References: References are listed consecutively in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text using Arabic numbers. These references should appear in a numbered list on a separate page at the end of the paper (Vancouver ).

They should contain the information as appropriate names (s) of the author (s), year, the title of the paper or book, the name of the journal, volume number, page range [for book name of the publisher (commercial or institutional) and place of publication (city and country)]. Ability to use a reference template available in many of the most popular reference management software products these include all products that support citation styles, such as Mendeley and EndNote.

Tables and Illustrations: These should be typed on separate sheets from the text. Numbered sequentially and attached to the end of the result. Each figure and table should be referred to in the text Table title and footnotes should be typed on the same sheet as the table. Illustrations should be marked on their backs with explanatory legends.

If any figure, table or other materials have been copied from other resources, authors have the sole responsibility for securing the necessary permission.

Text Formatting:

•Manuscript submitted in  Microsoft Word format (DOC) or LaTex.

•Should have a one-inch margin on each side of the page.

•Lines should be numbered.

•Use a normal, plain font 12-point Times Roman (Title and Abstract are set as one column on the page while other content of the manuscript is set as two-column).

Line spacing should be set at 1.15.

•Automatic page numbering (bottom right) should be used to number the manuscript pages.
